In a discussion with my husband about succeeding at what we do, he had some powerful advice. Advice that confirms what I had re-read in my recently published book – to be exact on page 58, third paragraph for those who have a copy and for you who need to purchase a copy here is the link, Called to a Higher Service. This is what he said “Sometimes we have so many choices in life (our backup plans as we call it. Our Plan A, B and C) that it really does not push us to remain consistent in our choice undertakings. So we run each time we are faced with a mountain, rather than try to conquer it.” He went further to say “when we do not have options it forces us to have “stick-to-it-iveness,” determined and resolute to win.” As I mentioned before, this confirms a single line from a quote in my book which states – in a particular situation I had no choice but to make it happen, I had no plan A, B or C.
Here is the quote from page 58:
“Sometimes our dreams (success) may seem like a huge hurdle to overcome, but that just means we need to focus harder. Getting that car did not come easily, but it did come through dreaming and then acting on that belief. It came because I had no other choice but to make it happen. I needed some relief; my back was against the wall, just as I mentioned at the outset of this book. We will experience success when we have no other choice. We will experience success once again, through focus and determination and planning every step of the way. Planning is just the blue print that allows us to see the possibilities.”
We will experience success when we have no other choice.
Another issue we face in the bigger picture as we go after success is, wanting things to happen immediately. How do we build a house? Do we not have to lay foundation to ensure sturdiness? Thereafter we lay brick by brick, until the house is done. Whatever we do in life takes a bit of time, nothing that happens overnight is lasting or truly appreciated. Ask the person who won the lotto and in a matter of months they have nothing. Succeeding in life takes planning and working that plan daily and consistently. It takes time to ensure that all that is necessary, all the right ingredients are present. So do not get “antsy” when immediate gratification does not come along. Just continue to be focused and resolute and plan, plan and plan along the way!
Planning eliminates the fear of the unknown (pg 59, Called to a Higher Service), planning keeps our mind on the present, we will be more confident when we are able to see the path to take.
So if anyone says to you having a Plan A, B and C is a good thing, consider this; perhaps your Plan A, B and C is hindering rather than helping you at this time.
