You are an Overcomer Through Christ

I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.”

John16:33

I see you, I hear you and I am feeling all that you are feeling in this moment. The hopeless feeling that gets to you because life as you know it is no longer. This time is a wake-up call for those who will recognize it as such. Many will ignore the signs and chalk it up to another occurrence and an unexplainable one, when it is a reality they choose to ignore. That it is a time for us to awaken from our slumber and recognize that we are in the end times.

So many are dying, so many are lost, and others are preoccupied with business as usual. Self-centeredness and lovers of self at an all-time and undisputed high. Lives become meaningless as we witness people killing each other, and it does not seem to matter. Governments are clueless as they go with the flow.

We are reminded in John 16:33 that we must take heart despite what is happening around us. We must take heart because our Saviour has already overcome the world, and we must let that be our peace. Even though we face trials, fears, and many other atrocities, we can go on and go fearlessly because our Savior has overcome this world. And because he has overcome the world and we belong to him, then that is our heritage. We are not hopeless, we are hopeful—as we look forward to a better existence, one that is beyond today. We are hopeful because this is not our reality, and so we have nothing to fear. While we carry on, let us remember that a message and an opportunity are presented to us to shore up our salvation. And we must not ignore it.

If Christ were to come tomorrow, what is your position?

Are you ready for his return?

…and even if you believe you are ready…are you?

One of my favorite writers C.S. Lewis says, “Relying on God has to start all over every day as if nothing has yet been done.” And that is a word for the believer. Daily repentance and reliance on Jesus is a must. Our constant prayer must be “keep me in sync with you Lord, help me to cling tightly to you“.

We have no control over the future we face, what we do have control over is our awareness and readiness to face all that the future brings. Will we resist, or will we carry on as if it is business as usual? Will we take control of our circumstances through prayer and grasping the peace that we have through John 16:33. Understand that we may not have control over the happenings in the world, but our control is in how we react and respond to the things that happen in the world.
