The Lord Is My Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want!
Ever dwelled on the word shepherd? I am sure you have. As I sought to delve deeper into what or who is a shepherd; I looked up the definition. The dictionary says, a shepherd is one who guides or direct in a particular direction. The duty of shepherd is to keep their flock intact and protect it from predators.

The beauty about shepherding was that the shepherd knew their flock. Sounds familiar? If one of the sheep went missing the shepherd would know; and the shepherd would go in search of that missing sheep.

Matthew 18:12 (NIV)
“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

And this is it, we do not need to read further than Psalm 23:1 to understand the kind of relationship that we can have with God, who is our Shepherd. The kind of relationship He wants to have with us. In His mercy He calls us daily. He gives us hope and assurance if we will just hear Him. God wants us truly surrendered and focused on Him. He wants us to seek Him first, He wants us to look to Him and depend on Him.

Worry should not be our default, He should be.

The Lord Is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want. He is our everything, and everything we need we will get from Him. A shepherd feeds his flock, a shepherd ensures his flock is comfortable, a shepherd loves his flock. And that is a simple way of putting what God will do for his people who depend on him. Who will become like sheep and listen for and hear His voice?

Today if you are needing a flock and a good shepherd, won’t you turn to Jesus. I assure you that He will love you and take care of you. Everything that you need is in him.

It doesn’t mean that life will become a bed of roses. What I can tell you is that your life is no longer about the situations that surround you. Instead it becomes “what He will change within you so that situations no longer affect you”. When you look to him for all that you need as a sheep would to their shepherd, you will have everything you need.

Keep your focus on your Shepherd and feel the comfort that He brings, feel the hope and most importantly feel the security that only He can provide.

Lots of Love & Amazing Light!
