Sunday Inspire – No need to Reinvent The Wheel

trees-340950_1280What do you do when you have a mountain before you? What do you do when you have a situation that seems insurmountable and hard for you to deal with and for you to overcome, what do you do?

I am an advocate of not having to reinvent the wheel. I mean if others have done it before me (in a similar situation) and they have a proven formula why would I try to figure out things on my own. So I am suggesting that we don’t have to reinvent the wheel. There are many examples of situations and circumstances, of mountains that persons in the Bible have faced before us and they have solved using a proven formula.  The formula I speak of is prayer and fasting.

When Nehemiah was faced with going back to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall to protect his people and to restore confidence and protection to them, he fasted and prayed before going to the king… Nehemiah 1:4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

Esther was also faced with having to go to the king on behalf of her people. She faced the possibility of death, but, her people were looking to her to make a difference, she also chose to fast and pray…Esther 4:16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

When David had committed adultery with Bathsheba and his son had fallen ill he fasted and prayed hoping that God would restore his son…2 Samuel 12:16-22 David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying in sackcloth on the ground.

So I’m saying that I believe that when we have mountains before us and when we have great difficulties, whenever we have issues that we are unable to overcome we should look no further than the bible. There we will discover what men and women of God did, we do not have to re-invent the wheel, the solutions are presented to us, we only need to read our bibles and we will be directed.

wishing you a merry
