What can man do to me

The Eternal is with me, so I will not be afraid of anything. If God is on my side, how can anyone hurt me? Psalm 118:6

There is so much to unpack from this powerful verse, but I will focus on the reassurance it brings to believers and you who may have not fully committed to a joyous life in Christ. A Believer’s joy is not an absence of life’s challenges but one that makes clear our relationship with Christ—He is our shepherd, and we are his sheep. What is the most significant characteristic associated with a shepherd? He takes care of his sheep and protects them from danger. That is the safe place we have in Christ.

And so if we are reliant on Jesus—and we should be, then we can boldly say, what can man do to me?

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand).

It is safe to say that our fear of life’s challenges and ‘people’ challenges have caused us to forget our covering from God and so we grapple to handle life on our own. We react to people and situations in ways that leave us feeling hopeless. We operate from egotistical values because how dare they…. we are bent on responding with our emotions because we connect with a false notion that it is them against us. We forget our position in Christ that fortifies us from ‘people’ hurt and gives us the power to walk away because really, what can mere mortals do to us?

Let me share this with you as a reminder that we have moved beyond the position of trying to protect ourselves, and we are now in Christ’s protection. We have been elevated from so-called chicken fights and have royalty status. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9

Listen, fellow believers, there is no need to fight our battles anymore; we are a people set apart. Walking away from situations may be hard but remember, when we find it difficult to walk away, we are responding to our flesh; and allowing ourselves to venture on a road that no longer serves us, our flesh is not a good teacher. Instead, our power now demands us to identify situations that will cause more harm than good and walk away.

When we walk away, we resist the enemy so he will flee from us. And we acknowledge God’s wisdom through the Holy Spirit, the wisdom that tells us ‘The Eternal’ (God) is with me, so I will not be afraid of anything.

If God is on my side, how can anyone hurt me?

Continued amazing light & love.
