Discernment Is A Gift And A Tool

Sometimes we turn a blind eye to the truth that we know; maybe because it’s a loved one or friend we are dealing with. The enemy has intimate knowledge of all that we have to fight with (and) to live a successful Christian life, a knowledge he tries to use against us. Any disconnection from our father prevents us from knowing and understanding the tools given. That is why our connection with God through reading His word must be a priority as is our connection with those with whom we fellowship. They are important in helping us along our journey.

Listen, if you have no tools you cannot fight and trust me we are in war. Read Revelation 12:13-18…He is not our friend. And so he will find ways to get to us, and sometimes it’s through those we love and trust … especially if they are not followers of Christ and even if they are. Know and appreciate that we are never at the same level spiritually, the people close to us could mean well but we must test the spirit.

1 John 4:1-6 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God… every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. … for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

As Christians we must be able to know truth against error. You know this through knowing God, and you know God by reading and applying His word.

Recognize His voice through the discernment given to you. It is a gift/tool to help… you have it for a reason. Not because someone may mean you well means that “it” is well for you. Remember when Peter spoke out against Jesus’ crucifixion? Peter who was Jesus’s friend, was used by the enemy to distort the truth but thank goodness Jesus was connected to his father.

Know and choose the truth. At times it may be a hard pill to swallow but allow me to help in counteracting feelings (temptation) so as to not turn a blind eye. Remember God’s truth found in Romans 8:28 (KJV)  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Exercise wisdom and discernment, know what God says about you. Choose to believe and act on this truth and all will be well.

Matthew 10:16 “Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.

Lots of Light & Love!
