Stretch Yourself Enlarge yourself

refugeIsaiah 54:2

“Enlarge the site of your tent, and let your tent curtains be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your ropes, and drive your pegs deep.

What does this truly mean… being who I am I immediately defaulted to thinking that it meant I’m thinking too small in a personal way and God wants me to think big… me, me, me, that is usually our default stance. But as I researched I understood that the verse has nothing to do with me personally but everything to do with God and the mandate He has given to every one of us.

Give of yourself to others. Stretch beyond your comfort zone and help others to see and know the God that WE serve so that they too can come into His fold and feel the beauty of life.

So many of us accept Christ then keep that transformation to ourselves, but we should be like the woman at the well. She could not wait to go back and tell others about her life transforming conversation with Jesus and what kind of life through Him they could all experience. Instead we hoard the knowledge to ourselves and we go about our business as usual.

When we become children of God we take on a new life.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

This simply means it cannot be Business as usual. We have changed and therefore we should demonstrate that.

So stretch ourselves we must, enlarge ourselves we must, so we can build His kingdom and do His work. Strengthen ourselves and build up ourselves so that we can help others into a new life and enlarge God’s territory.

And guess what, my initial interpretation thinking from a personal level will be taken care of. When we do what we must, everything else gets taken care of!
