Proverbs 15 :1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

I have yet to get this one right and it is a continuous battle with my spirit and my soul.

Should I cry foul and blame it on my “humanness” or, should I accept responsibility for my actions and strive to conquer this thing? Should I say oh well, it’s a sin that’s covered by the precious blood of Jesus – ignoring the fact that I can and should do better?

I speak for myself today because I acknowledge this part of me that is just incongruent with the rest of me. I am always quick to encourage all of us to identify that part of us that holds us back because really – this kind of reaction does not cause growth and so I labour to have a soft answer and shut down the ego which is what causes me to  be otherwise.

Here are five ways I am doing this.

1. It’s not for them it is for me. I maintain my sanity by understanding that when I walk away it is simply for self-preservation. I prevent guilt trips with myself- the famous afterthought, I know better, why didn’t I do better.
2. It is my choice – life is filled with these. Make the right choice and life will be the way it is meant to be.
3. I fight not against flesh and blood – really I don’t . I/we all have our own demons so to speak and ever so often they rear their ugly heads without my/our permission. We take control when this is recognized!
4. See the best always – choose to see love. Choose to operate from love. Remember who I represent and let that drive me.
5. Say sorry if I forget the above 4 things and start again until I get it right. No guilt trip!
