God, make a fresh start in me,
Excerpted from Psalms 51
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
Don’t throw me out with the trash,
or fail to breathe holiness in me.
Bring me back from gray exile,
put a fresh wind in my sails!
Give me a job teaching rebels your ways
so the lost can find their way home.
Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God,
and I’ll sing anthems to your life-giving ways.
Unbutton my lips, dear God;
I’ll let loose with your praise.
“Consider the above words: it’s like receiving a new chance at life—a fresh start where we don’t have to dwell on the past or struggle to fix things alone. In the above prayer, David asks God for precisely what some of us desire… a change, a new lease on life, freedom from error. This prayer was David’s, but it can be yours too if you seek a new beginning.
Approaching a new year prompts us to evaluate our lives, reflecting on the past year and envisioning the changes we desire. If you seek a new start or wish to amend past actions and habits, consider this prayer, David uttered these words after his wrongdoing, and perhaps that resonates with your situation too. Remember, you needn’t share whatever with anyone but your Heavenly Father, and saying this prayer and believing in a merciful, gracious Heavenly Father willing to grant you a fresh start and release you from burdens can be life-changing.
In all facets of life—relationships, friendships, business decisions, and more—change is often necessary. The beauty lies in God’s deep interest in our lives. He wants to be involved, not only when we find ourselves in difficult situations and need rescuing but also when things are good. He desires involvement in every aspect, fostering a complete, dynamic life, teaching us through both good and bad experiences.
As we anticipate 2024, let’s introspect, identifying areas necessitating change, seeking forgiveness where needed, adopting better habits, and opening ourselves to God’s grace and mercy. His wisdom and guidance to help us navigate our lives better. Allow the Holy Spirit to aid in decision-making, personally and professionally. Transition from self-reliance to reliance on God; life improves when He takes precedence, guiding us toward righteousness over worldly pursuits.
God is prepared and willing; it’s time for us to be prepared and willing too. Wishing you even greater success in the new year—open your life to the Almighty and witness the transformative changes.”
Lots of Love & Light.
