Many of us do not fully grasp the depth of the gift we have received through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. We may think we understand, but in truth, we do not. Don’t be hard on yourself, and don’t take offense at what you’re reading. Simply recognize that our human limitations prevent us from fully comprehending the wisdom and power of God. This isn’t held against us; rather, it highlights how far removed we are from His divine nature.
“I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work,” declares the Lord. “For as the sky soars high above the earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think.”
(Isaiah 55:8-9)
The gift I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].”
(John 16:7)
The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, and Standby. He is the one we must look to, lean on, and allow to work in our lives in ways we cannot do for ourselves.
On a personal note, I often share my fear of public speaking for reasons I won’t delve into here—perhaps I’ll open up about it another time. But whenever I must speak in spaces where I have no control, I turn to the Holy Spirit, and He has never let me down. When I reflect on those moments, I am in awe. It amazes me that some consider our faith foolish.
The truth is, whether you believe in my God or not, you must believe in something, or your life lacks direction. Those who refuse to believe often do so out of fear—fear of being proven wrong. Rather than embrace the possibility of a higher existence, they cling to their “short-sightedness,” which only leads to a life devoid of deeper meaning.
My experiences have repeatedly confirmed the existence of God. These are not extraordinary phenomena; rather, they are profound and personal moments:
A thought within me being externally reinforced.
A word from someone that resonates deeply, leaving an indelible mark.
A sense of peace and comfort during prayer that surpasses all understanding.
Experiencing abundance and overflow when my family trusted God for more.
Emerging from a dark place, overwhelmed by depression, to find myself thriving today.
The Holy Spirit is the gift that enables us as Christians to stand firm in a world where it’s increasingly difficult to do so. We live in challenging times filled with diseases, atrocities, ideological divides, and a lack of moral compass. Yet, the Holy Spirit equips us with the strength to wake up each day in faith, knowing all is well as long as we focus on the source of our strength.
