Re-Emergence – The Needed Light

I am at the bottom of the pit; I feel the darkness closing in on me, hopelessness like long arms pulling me in. I bore the dread pushing me to the ground, the weight of foolish decisions burying me; where is my escape? I try to stand on feet, too weak to support the life I lived; instead, I lift my head, heavy from the weight of my burdens, hoping to see a glimmer of light. I know that if I can see just a speck, then possibly, quite possibly, I can be fetched and delivered from this misery. And I see it; it is all I need. The Needed Light

This was life for me not so long ago, a life I never thought held any hope. A life, though somewhat satisfying, was unknowingly leading me onto a path that would eventually break me. A life in a world that says we should fit into a criterion to be valid—and plays out as a one size fits all. A pompous job title, a specific profile for our friends, and let me not forget—the fake it until you make it mentality and more. Here is where the problem resides because, guess what—we all have unique paths to traverse.

I was young then, and catchphrases I should have known were unfamiliar, such as, you have a mind of your own, imposter syndrome, you are more, and seek joy rather than happiness, just to name a few. Phrases, if known to me, would perhaps have changed my trajectory. And so, for a very long time, I answered to the world until something within began to rebel against my life choices. My intuition kept telling me that my current life was misaligned from my core. Emotionally I was drained and had no interest in anything except hiding away in my safe space֫—alone. I had little tolerance for the things that seemingly pleased me before.

I wanted to be alone, and I took time away.

I reminisced on my youth. I tried my hardest to recall the different stages of development, what brought me joy, and what made me cry. That moment of reminiscing was my rescue; the Holy Spirit brought to my senses Matthew 3:12—He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.” This was a direct message because I knew nothing of the Bible verse (Matthew 3:12), and so when the thought of the threshing floor came to mind, and I found that passage of scripture, I knew it was what I needed at that moment. A message telling me that irrespective of what I was going through, re-emergence was imminent. I needed to get ready because God was about to clean house and rid me of all that added no value to my life and his purposes for my life. He was about to separate the wheat (the good) from the chaff (the bad); that was my speck of light!

The Light- A needed Light

A reminder—when life gets tough, you only need a little speck of light. The lady with the issue of blood described in the Bible only touched the hem of Jesus’ garment to be healed, a simple touch. No elaborate head-turning, body-shaking occurrence, just a light touch, a speck of something, a bit of hope, no matter how challenged you are at any moment. You can be in the lowest of the low places and re-emerge just by looking up and having that speck of light, the needed light, to get you back on track, stronger, wiser, and more fulfilled to start again. To re-emerge in a world that prefers to bury you under darkness until you forget that you are light and that you have a purpose here on earth.

Here is a bit of food for thought: During the act of procreation, on average, 100 million sperm cells are ejaculated into the woman from the man, and only one sperm cell can successfully fertilize an egg. YOU MADE IT! What does that say about you? You are here for a reason, you fought off many other potentials (insert your name) to be here, and so we must always be in a state of hope when life feels hopeless. Every morning you open your eyes, you get another opportunity to do and to be, irrespective of what happened the day before. It is every reason you must push through and re-emerge, living on purpose, committed to the life-changing work you are here to do.

A Verse – One of many lights.
Psalm 27:13: I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God. You can re-emerge from anything simply by making the decision; and with God’s favour on your side. You are above ground for a reason and a purpose. There were no mistakes when you were skillfully crafted and shaped by the Potter, handcrafted for His perfect plan and purpose.

Look up for the needed light. Re-Emerge.
