My heart is in anticipation of a wonderful place that I am trying my best to get to, of course not by myself but because of God’s all-encompassing plan for all who accept his son Jesus Christ as their Lord and their Saviour. The ones who will acknowledge God as God in their lives. The ones who will put their flesh aside and put Him first. Are you that one; I am striving to be.
That’s why we have this Scripture text: No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, Never so much as imagined anything quite like it—What God has arranged for those who love him.
1 Corinthians 2:9
As humans, we often think we understand God’s capacity, but this is a false notion. His words in Isaiah 55:8 tell us, “I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work.” God’s Decree. “For as the sky soars high above earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think. …and so at no point can we ever imagine where we are going to live out eternity.
We see a lot of depictions in the movies, and we read a lot of descriptions of what heaven will be like, but even as beautiful a picture as our imaginations can conjure, it is nothing in comparison to what awaits us. And so, we must ensure that we do our part (our actions and choices are in sync with God’s will for our lives) to get to heaven. There are portions of God’s words that are two-fold. He gives a condition with a promise, for eg.
Romans 10:9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
The above passages of scripture require action from us to fulfil the promises of God. And be assured that once we do our part, He will be true to His promises towards us.
They are conditions, and the acceptance of his conditions results in blessings once we fulfill the conditions.
In a commentary by Matthew Henry on 1Corinthians 2:9 he had this to say:
There are many things that people would not do if they knew the wisdom of God in the great work of redemption. There are things God hath prepared for those that love him and wait for him, which sense cannot discover, no teaching can convey to our ears, nor can it yet enter our hearts. We must take them as they stand in the Scriptures, as God hath been pleased to reveal them to us.
Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary
And so, do you want to see that place that God has prepared for you? Trust that it is unimaginable, and while trusting, seek to do the will of God in your life. Ensure that your actions allow the promises of God to manifest. Understand that while we go through our journey, let us try not to focus too much on the here and now but instead let us allow the future rewards to push us forward.
