Our reality is that we believe we know all we need to, and oftentimes we feel we are in control and have it all figured out. We think we know what is best for us and the people we love—we are ready to give advice and voice our opinions when all we need to do is quiet ourselves and listen to our intuition before saying or doing anything. I have witnessed the downfall of people I know (even mine) simply because they are not willing to stay quiet. This is perhaps because we believe silence to be a sign of weakness or even ignorance when silence is the strength that ensures we do the best for ourselves and the best for others.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
Rumi
Life is not predictable; there is no crystal ball, there is no pre-set game plan to choose from, and so we must figure out what is that thing that we have to help us navigate our lives and have the best outcome. And that thing comes in the form of the Holy Spirit.
But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
John 16:7
And there we have it; the reality is that we must acknowledge and recognize the Holy Spirit and the part that Holy Spirit plays in our lives. Holy Spirit helps us navigate our circumstances in the only way that will be profitable to us. Only then will our reality be—a life so intimate and attuned with Holy Spirit, we will know when to speak and when to stay quiet. We will know when to act so that by our actions, things will fall in place in the way they should.
It is hard, but we know that everything meaningful and worthwhile takes effort. We will have to position ourselves so that Holy Spirit can do the work needed in our lives. This positioning takes time and requires us to be ‘present’ in our situations and identify when we need to step back and quiet ourselves.
I am an advocate for saying ‘life is simple, and we make it complicated”. Know that everything that we need, we have. As Christians and people of God, we must divorce ourselves of old ways of thinking and relinquish our desire to be in control. We must take God at His word, literally. Taking God at His word means that if we do and practice the things in His book, the Bible, then our lives would reflect the reality of God’s kingdom. Then ‘His will’, would be done in our lives as it is in heaven. Then life will be simple.
In closing, your reality is God’s reality for you. Therefore position yourself in a way that allows His reality to come to life in your life. Ultimately you must pray less of me and more of you, Lord!
Once we do that, then our reality is a life filled with the good gifts from above!
What a way to live!
Lots of light and continued love.
