Hold On Like Jacob Did.

Roadblocks, challenges, obstacles, diversions, U-turns, curved balls, and the list goes on, are all tactics used from the beginning of time by the enemy to get to us. The best of us is not exempt, and we can all look forward to being derailed at one point or another. It is life, but what we do with each encounter is what will make the difference between success (not monetary) and a major defeat

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.  We are hunted down but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

We are not destroyed irrespective of what we may face today, and so as we are faced with challenges, we must continue, fully committed to any task we may have in whatever moment. These things—the challenges and diversions must be recognized immediately, in order to push through and win.

Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Psalm 91:7. This is another bible verse we must remember and find comfort in. Though we may see hardship around us we must remain focused on our calling.

There were many times I felt hopeless; depression was the order of the day, and I did not identify immediately what was happening to me. I just knew something was completely off, and I felt at the lowest point in my life. I began to identify with suicide, something I spoke out against in the past. But I found myself there. I was ready to go, and then Jesus stepped in. Literally.

Later on, I would read the story of Jacob when he wrestled with God. The one thing which at the time stood out and was and continues to be a life-giving force was Jacob saying ““I will not let You go unless You bless me!” Genesis 22:26. That has never left me.

I find myself saying those words too “I am not letting go until you bless me, Father”. I do not give to it the meaning that Jacob did when I do say those words. For me, it is with more focus on “not letting go”.

As I am faced with all of the absurdities that the enemy sends my way—the past mistakes, the leftover guilt from bad choices, the sickness, and everything else, I remain constant in saying—I will not let go. I am holding on to Jesus because through it all He rescued me from everything the enemy threw at me. He lifted me high and placed my heart in his hand. He has me for life—through my good and bad, and I hold on through every dark mess.

My encouragement today is for you to hold on to Jesus whenever the enemy throws the unworthy card at you. Hold on, knowing what God says about you. When he throws the sickness card at you, you hold on to Jehovah-Rapha. Fear? Hold on to Jehovah-Nissi.

…just hold on and not let go.

The enemy is doing his work, preventing you from getting to eternity.

You must do your work, stay strong, stay focused, and stay in faith, knowing who is on your side as you journey to eternity. Hold on to Jesus. He has your back.

Lots of love and amazing light,
