What are your thoughts today?

I have hidden your truth in my heart so I may not sin against you

Psalm 119:11

What are your thoughts today? Are they thoughts such as

  1. I can’t wait for this thing to end so I can ….
  2. I am overwhelmed by it all I wish I was dead…
  3. I hope I will survive this thing
  4. How am I going to take care of my family etc

Many thoughts are no doubt playing through the minds of many; but what about God’s people? What are you saying? What are you thinking?
I was awaken as usual in the early morning and the first thought that came to my mind was Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your truth in my heart so I may not sin against you”. In that moment I knew God was telling me something that would be life changing for me.

As a Christian woman I struggle with my own thoughts; I move between thoughts of faith to fear, happiness to anger, good to evil (don’t judge me) should I make “the call” even when I know making the call will not add value to my life. And so it is with us, but in that moment I knew precisely what God was telling me. That once we have his word in our heart, not mind because our mind will fail us, all will be well.

In Proverbs 4:23 we are told “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Is this a lightbulb moment for us or what? If we hide God’s truth in our hearts where everything flows from, it has to be a win win for us. Our thoughts and actions and most importantly our choices will flow from a place filled with the word and knowledge of God… that right there just gave me goosebumps.
In Joshua 1:8 we are also given valuable life instructions that says “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do” ; once again God’s word.

Family in Christ, I ask once again, what are your thoughts?

If our answer does not bode well for us then I can only suggest that we replace our own thinking with the word of God and allow it to be rooted in our hearts. This enables the success that we all desire, the kind that facilitates righteous choices. After all we are people desirous of all things good and living faith-filled lives so that our circumstances does not dictate our responses but God’s word does. The icing on the cake will therefore be – if all is well it confirms all that our Father has been telling us and it keeps us rooted. If the circumstance is less than desirable we will still remain rooted because of what we know is the truth of Psalm 119:11.

God wants us to live in the manner we desire -and that is to not sin against him. He wants us to have success in this physical world and that is why He has given us the instructions above. It is now up to us to labor in living as He expects. Read His word and allow it to penetrate your heart today. Allow God’s word to remove all of what we do not need within us and leave all that we need.

I leave you with the following “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report … think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
