You are The Light, Be The Light

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled; upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior; Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Titus 2:11-14

I know there are many of us including myself who at times feel hopeless; as we think about our lives in the past and also in the present. We are unsure at times of where we are in our spiritual walk. This is simply because we are unable to move beyond things we have allowed to happen to us. Yes. WE…We must acknowledge that when things happen to us good/bad it is our doing most of the times. A part of growing spiritually is accepting this and rather than shout THE ENEMY, we must say “The Inner Me” because that is what it is really.

As I reflect on Titus 2:11-14 I realize that we must let go of the thoughts that prevent us from living with the assurance that all is well. When we allow condemnation in we are keeping ourselves stagnant; we are nullifying what Jesus has already done for us and WE MUST LET GO OF OUR PAST MISTAKES. Grace can help and it is God’s gift to us; a gift that allows us to live free and with the knowledge that indeed all is well.

I want to highlight the fact that Grace gives the assurance that we are saved once we have accepted Christ into our lives. And letting go of the darkness causes us to understand that WHO THE SON HAS SET FREE BY GRACE IS FREE INDEED. CONDEMNATION KEEPS US IMPRISONED TO OUR OLD LIFE, OUR OLD WAYS. But allowing Grace to do its work in our lives, allows us to see that all is and will be well.

So Grace teaches or facilitates the following in our lives but we must do our part. We must allow GRACE TO DO THE WORK IN US.
  • Teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness.
  • Grace teaches us to say no to worldly passions.
  • Teaches us to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives.
  • Facilitates us waiting for the blessed hope (the return of Jesus Christ) and
  • Transforms us into people that are God’s very own, eager to do what is good.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:3-7

So yes, we were as the above passage of scripture states but now, we are saved by God. He knows us, He has our back, believe when I say there is nothing too great for him to forgive, absolve or cleanse us of.

Grace cleanses and heals us in places that are too far gone for even us to try and fix ourselves. Grace causes change in our lives and it not for us to take this for granted and feel that when we fall it’s okay. We must change; grace should cause us to want to do good and not keep falling again and again.

There has to be a point where our desire to sin diminishes. And we realize that the feeling that sin gives us is one that we no longer wish to experience. In all of this we must understand also that sin has consequences – it separates us from God, not from His love for us but from the life that He has planned for us. Can you see how?

We must let go of condemnation and unworthy feelings and allow Grace to become active in our lives. We must do our part and allow Grace to cause a change and transformation so that we can live like the light that are;knowing that it is indeed well. This is a much needed reminder for us; grace makes you the light, so be the light!

ALL IS WELL.
