Are We Foolproof Against the Enemy
No matter how strong we feel we are, no matter how much years as a Christian we have under our belt or even how spiritually sound we believe we are; if Satan is out for us he can get to us. We see this in many fallen Christians within our churches, even the very pastors who lead us… even me as I pen this…it takes a small opening and rest assured he will force his way through.
But how do we prevent him from gaining access?
Only by being aware always of this possibility; then our awareness causes us to intentionally operate in a way that does not facilitate him coming through. In other words we do things according to the innate knowledge placed within us (by God) of right and wrong. And so when we make righteous choices and act according to God’s desires for our lives, even if there is an opening, Mr Enemy will just not be able to put his foot through. He will be rendered immobile.
So let’s talk about access prevention:-
- The first thing is – our knowledge of the Bible through reading and absorbing. In James 4:7 we are told – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” Therefore it is a simple matter of knowing our truth through Christ. That we already operate from a place of victory. That the enemy wants nothing good to happen for us, that he is not our friend and therefore we should under no circumstance open ourselves to him.
- We have the example of David in the Bible also of him being in constant and consistent repentance and fear of God. We must understand that nothing should separate us from the constant covering of God. Therefore repentance should become second place in our hearts.
- Reading our power verses and declaring them over our lives, here are 5:-
- Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19.
- The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Romans 16:20.
- The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11.
- What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 3:31.
- For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. 2 Corinthians 10:4.
- Just labouring to choose God first and believing that when we do all will be well with us “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” – Matthew 6:33.
- To not get excited by the things of the world but understanding the element of distraction that Satan employs through these things. And so he takes us away from God.
- Surrounding ourselves with spiritual partners who will pray for us – Sometimes we want to go about life alone because it gets difficult as others get involved in our situations. I want to encourage us all that God will send the right people into our lives to ensure that His purpose for our lives becomes a reality. We all need people and we need to trust that with wisdom we will know who should be in our circle.
- Knowing that there is protection in tithing – “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts” Malachi 3:1.
And I leave you to come up with some on your own.
God is good; he always gives us a way of escape or the ability to handle being tempted. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthian 10:13.
Feel his presence, understand what it is like to truly have God on your side and you will be able to resist. Lastly understand that our success lies in our choices!
We are rooting for all of us!
