Move – You Are Being Called To

As I thought about what I could possibly encourage you with this month, I was inspired to look within and share with you something that “creeps” into my thoughts now and again. I must admit it is not as bad as it use to be, I do not think about it as much anymore.

Three years ago, God closed many doors in my life. At the time I could make little sense of what was taking place, even though I knew it was inevitable based on my prayers. They were needed changes that would mean a new and different life (and as much as I was not fighting them at the moment later on I would reflect and wonder and desire my old life back). But, let’s be real for a minute – who wants to let go of the things which hold much significance to them, especially, if you were like me, just settling into a new home.  Here is a biggie for me – I was transitioning from prep school fees to high school – no fees for my kids. Tell me, who would not want such a break. I could see some of that money being channeled into better family vacations. There were just so many plans that I was beginning to see becoming a possibility. My focus was all about me and what I could do.

Then God told me to move, I had to give up everything and move to another country. Away from friends and family that were pretty much my comfort zone.

I say all of that because there are times when God asks us to move – to begin again and we have a really hard time understanding or really accepting that God could possibly be speaking to us. Even when we see by faith that He is leading us into something that holds better possibilities we prefer to hold on to the familiar because that is our comfort zone.

Reminds me of when God asked Abraham to move and go to a land he knew nothing about – by faith and obedience he moved, not questioning anything.

When God asks us in no uncertain terms to move we should take heed. He is bringing us into a new and better era of our lives that will perhaps seem hard to accept. We will go through stages of feeling isolated but let me tell you it is in the isolation that he fortifies us as one of my mentors would say; this is where He prepares us and consecrates us for His purpose.

There is so much more I could say on this matter but I just want to encourage you that if today you might have lost a job, you are divorced, you have to move to another country or you are feeling isolated for any reason; understand that you are being prepared to meet God face to face.

Who would not want such an opportunity … Move, embrace the changes and be glad he has chosen you.
