God has great and exciting plans for your life but sometimes we need to Be Still and let things be. Be Still and let things come to us. Be Still and let things come together. What is the rush?
Remember Abram and Sarai?
God told Abram he would be a father of many nations and of course Abram believed. We can only assume that he related this revelation to Sarai his wife. They must have gotten so excited and decided to help God carry out HIS PLANS. Soon they arranged for Abram to father a son with Hagar (Sarai handmaiden/slave) which of course created unnecessary drama in their lives with Sarai, Hagar and Ishmael (Read Genesis 16).
Is there a lesson here for us? There certainly is, helping God to bring about HIS PLANS for our lives is unnecessary. It only brings unnecessary drama to our lives. Our plans are not God’s Plans. Thank Goodness God did not hold it against Abram and Sarai, and neither will he hold it against us.
We are better served by allowing God to make evident His plans at the appropriate time. God knows us inside out, he knows our need to control our lives ESPECIALLY when things are not coming together as we expect.
Be Still – Those things you are going after, may not be God’s plan for you. Do not create an unnecessary Ishmael. Be Still and rest, God will reveal his plan when the time is right. I am by no means saying that you should sit back and wait. No! I believe that we should do the small and simple things that God require of us. They may seem inconsequential, they may seem to not have any far-reaching impact but I dare say, that is where God is most evident, in the simple matters of life that he will first ask us to do. Things that should become second nature to us, things that will build us and prepare us for greater things. In Luke 16:10(NLT) it says “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. So do the small things. Additionally a quote from Mother Teresa says “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”
So Be Still and rest, knowing that our plans are not God’s plans. Let go of trying to control and be master over your every move. Allow God to point you in the right direction; do not create any Ishmael in your lives. Allow God to reveal his plans for you and in the meantime Do the small things that will prepare you for the Greater Plans God has in store.
Freedom come in the letting go of self. Rejoicing in the Glory of it all
It surely does… Thanks for your comment Clayton Chapelle.
