I wrote on a topic sometime ago entitled “Waiting in Pain”, I felt the need to write on this topic once more as I believe strongly in waiting on the Lord and his time. I strongly believe that there is success in waiting. I have had so many experiences in the past where I have decided against waiting on God’s timing. As I reflect on these experiences I can say that not one of them turned out positively. Mind you they were resolved because God is a merciful God and he delivers when we cry out to him. Had I thought out each situation and prayed then waited things would have turned out differently.
I believe most of our problems lie in the fact that we always want to be in control of the situation. We ask and we pray but if we do not see a resolution in a timely manner we opt to make the decisions ourselves.
Psalm 40:1-17 (NIV) I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
James 5:10-11 (MSG) …What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You’ve heard, of course, of Job’s staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That’s because God cares, cares right down to the last detail.
God cares right down to the last detail. In my humble opinion God knows what is best for me, he knows what is best for us. So, yes, I do have a hard time waiting but I try as best as I can to wait on God and on his timing.
I no longer want to go through life the hard way by making the wrong choices. I no longer wish to live my way. I will wait on God if it requires me to wait forever, as hard as it may be. I believe that success comes through waiting on God to deliver us from situations that could harm us. Its the only way I know to live now.
Let us wait on God.
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and be weary. They shall walk and not faint. (Isa 40 vs 31)
Teach us Lord how to wait.
