Galations 5:7-10 (MSG) You were running superbly! Who cut in on you, deflecting you from the true course of obedience? This detour doesn’t come from the One who called you into the race in the first place. And please don’t toss this off as insignificant. It only takes a minute amount of yeast, you know, to permeate an entire loaf of bread. Deep down, the Master has given me confidence that you will not deflect. But the one who is upsetting you, whoever he is, will bear the divine judgment.
As Christians ever so often we need a “timely reminder” when we are going down the wrong path known or unknown to us. We need that one reminder that allows us to pause and look at our lives to make sure that we are doing all God expects of us. We are Christian but we are also human. The enemy knowing this is always at work, using our weaknesses against us.
I have a weakness which prevents me from openly accepting strangers into my circle. So I will find every reason to prevent this from happening. I consider it a weakness while others might look at it as a strength because in their eyes it may weed out good from bad or its a means of exercising good judgment. I think that it is stereotyping. I think that it is being selective when Jesus’ teaching tells us to embrace all with love.
As I was reading my Bible I was drawn to Galatians 5 which speaks about “A Life of Freedom”. I was given a timely reminder through this passage:-
7-10 You were running superbly!
This timely reminder was needed because I was going down a wrong road in not being open to someone who did me no wrong. It was a timely reminder that in life there will be detour signs placed along our path. Placed there by the enemy. It takes nothing for us to be thrown off the path of life.(It only takes a minute amount of yeast, you know, to permeate an entire loaf of bread.) God is well aware of this and that is why he gives timely reminders that will come to us in different forms. These reminders serve to keep us on track especially when he knows that we have the best intentions to do the right thing.
I thank God for the timely reminder; it keeps me living in hope, knowing that I abound with the gift of grace and God’s promises towards me. I am also thankful that God watches over me and that the enemy who tries to deflect me from living a life that glorifies God will bear God’s divine judgment.
