Do not quit now, not when you have come this far in your journey. Remain confident and sure of yourself. Lets encourage others because we are all fighting against the same situations.
I remember being told a story of a beggar who was approaching cars in a long line of traffic. There was a gentleman in his car in the line watching the beggar going from car window to car window, holding out his hand perhaps repeating the same story over and over. He watched him for some time and as the beggar got closer to him he decided he would help. He took out money ready to hand them over to the beggar only to see the beggar stop at the car right before him. He was once again apparently unsuccessful and gave up. He gave up, walking away having been rejected too many times. If only the beggar had persevered a little longer he would have been rewarded.
How many of us lose out as did the beggar because we gave up. Gave up thinking we have been trying too long without success. How many of us because of constantly faced with rejection lose our confidence, deciding to give up, not wanting to continue. God has a word of encouragement for us through the following passage.
Hebrews 10:32, 35-39 (MSG) Remember those early days after you first saw the light? Those were the hard times! Kicked around in public, targets of every kind of abuse…Nothing they did bothered you, nothing set you back. So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.
It won’t be long now, he’s on the way;
he’ll show up most any minute.
But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust;
if he cuts and runs, I won’t be very happy.But we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.
God wants us to continue trusting in him, not giving up halfway. He wants us to remain confident in what we know about him. About his goodness. About his plans for our lives. God does not want us to quit. He wants us to remain confident through his word and the knowledge that he gives us through the Holy Spirit. Do not quit!
