Genesis 1:26-31The Message (MSG).
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature, so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.” God created human beings; he created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them:“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.” Then God said, “I’ve given you every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth and every kind of fruit-bearing tree, given them to you for food.To all animals and all birds, everything that moves and breathes, I give whatever grows out of the ground for food.” And there it was. God looked over everything he had made; it was so good, so very good! It was evening, it was morning—Day Six.
In the beginning Adam and Eve went against God’s wishes allowing sin to enter the beautiful world created by him. Opening us to a state of hopelessness and pain. God in his infinite mercy could not allow us to live filled with this hopelessness and pain so he sent his son to die for us on the cross. To redeem us and to give us a new life filled with hope and power. To reclaim our world from the darkness of sin. It is unfortunate that sometimes we forget this sacrifice and continue to live hopeless and filled with pain.
That is not the life that our heavenly father wishes for us. I cannot imagine how God feels when he sees us turning a blind eye to all that he has done, he must be so disappointed.
Let us remember that in the beginning God blessed us and told us to “multiply and fill the earth and subdue it”. That we were masters of the fish and birds and all the animals. Then God looked over us and knew we were excellent in every way.
He made us ruler over the earth, he told us to take charge. The sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross returned us to the people of favor in God’s eyes. It is time we begin to live knowing this truth, that we are excellent in every way. It is well with us.
