To encourage empowers not only the receiver but also the giver. JPJ
Proverbs 16:24 Living Bible (TLB) “Kind words are like honey—enjoyable and healthful”.
Have you ever had someone walk up to you, someone you do not know and speak some encouraging words over your life. You might look around wondering if they got the right person until you absorb what the person is saying and receive it and make it your own. Doesn’t that just make your day and empower you to be that person even if you do not feel that way.
The awesomeness of the spoken words…it gives life to you and me.
Simple words expressed out loud can change attitudes and beliefs and in turn actions.
The interaction between parents and babies just learning to walk is a fitting example of encouragement. We become excited for them, we encourage them with each step they take. If they should fall we (sometimes) help them up or we speak positive words encouraging them to “rise”. This is because we believe in them and we know that they can do it, indirectly inspiring them to believe in themselves. When did all of this stop, when did we stop believing in the power of encouragement, when did we turn it into a competition with each other.
We cannot change people, only God can.
Let our focus be the good stuff about others, let us encourage each other starting from our homes. It is easier sometimes to encourage the stranger, but we cannot encourage the outside world when our immediate world is in need of the same. It would be pointless.
Encouragement can empower people and cause them to step into who they are really called to be.
Wouldn’t you want to be a part of that change?
Affirm: I will become a vessel of encouragement to others and effect positive changes in others lives.
