God calls us to do his work and to perfect our journey on earth, making us victorious against the enemy and also preparing us for eternal life in heavenly places. JPJ.
Philippians 1:6 (AMP)
And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.
I remember when God placed a conviction in my heart to serve him, there was no “wow” moment but instead it came to me quietly yet firmly. I remember prior to getting this conviction, that very often a friend of mine would invite me to his church (he was not a friend then , just someone I met while conducting business, you know the situation that begs for talk to fill the silence when one has to wait on a transaction). I had an excuse then why I could not attend his church and subsequent to that whenever we happen to run into each other.
Months after many invites I started to get a feeling that I needed to go church and it came to me very clearly which church I needed to go to. It happened to be the same church that my friend was inviting me to.
I decided to attend the next Sunday but had an accident the Wednesday prior to. This was not a regular accident, I fell down a flight of steps at work, it was bad enough to keep me out of the office for 2 weeks. To this day I have a chipped tooth as well as my once perfect lip is a thing of the past (smile).
I am always concerned about my appearance but I immediately decided that my badly bruised and swollen lips were not going to stop me from being in the church that Sunday morning. I accepted Christ bruised lips and all.
I share my story to say that when God calls us we should be obedient. When God calls us we should not worry about our capabilities because God does not call the equipped, he equips the called. When God calls us he wants to begin the good work in us, he wants to continue this good work until the day of Jesus’ return, developing the good work, perfecting the good work and bringing it to full completion in us.
The good work is for us to help others and bring them into the light of God’s glory despite what we ourselves go through. Persevering to perfection and completion which is being with him at the end of our journey, living and enjoying life eternally with God.
Affirm: I open myself to God’s call and to his work within me, perfecting me and helping me to help others to enjoy the life that God ultimately wants for us. I will do his work and know that God is bringing his work to perfection in all of us. It is well and I am well.
