I was recently reflecting on the many Christians who have given up on themselves, believing they are beyond redemption. They feel overwhelmed by their own shortcomings, which may have distanced them from God’s grace. Unable to see themselves as worthy of God’s pure and boundless love, they forget His invitation to come as we are. Guilt blinds them to the immense act of love and forgiveness demonstrated on the cross—just for us.
Consider Paul, formerly Saul, a persecutor of Christians, yet transformed by God’s grace. Or Peter, who, despite being close to Jesus, denied knowing Him—not once, not twice, but three times. David, who had his own flaws, was still a favorite of God. Even the great prophets often felt inadequate, yet God used them in powerful ways to bless others.
Could it be the sin of self-righteousness that keeps us from fully embracing the Father’s unconditional love? This love calls us to live freely, secure in who we are and whose we are. When we know these truths, we stop casting judgment on ourselves and instead strive to live in worship and service to God above all else. We can live confidently, trusting in the promises of Matthew 6:33, holding on to life, and giving back all we were created to offer.
There is a better way, a more fulfilling kind of life—not one driven by material things or a sense of self-sufficiency, but one that reflects the freedom found in Christ. This freedom comes when we acknowledge the sacrifice made for us on the cross and choose to accept it. Embracing Jesus as our Lord and Savior opens us to the fullness of life He offers. Have you done this? Don’t you want the best that life has to give? Return to Him, or come to Him now. Confess your sins and open yourself to the abundant life found in Jesus.
Let me leave you with one of God’s promises to speak over your life:
Psalm 91:9-10 (NLT)
“[9] If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, [10] no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.”
Return to Him today!
