With Christ In The Vessel, Let’s Smile At Our Storms

Today’s world, with all of its happenings, can sometimes feel like we are on a boat similar to Peter and the disciples. The waves are coming at us, ready to capsize this boat of life that we’re on, threatening us with tumultuous waves that fill us with dread and fear, causing us to not know our next best move.

We are frightened, and rightfully so, because, truth be told, even the best captain has no crystal ball to predict what happens next. So, what do we do when life gets like this?

As Christians, we grew up singing the song, With Christ in the vessel, we can smile at the storm. We smile at the storm because we are fully aware of who is with us, trusting Him with our everything. We trust Him because He is our Father, who constantly reminds us that He can speak to storms and they must obey. The challenges we face do not faze our God—they are minuscule to Him. And let us not forget, He is also The Christ.

Luke 8:24, reads, “The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, ‘Master, Master, we’re going to drown!’ When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly, the storm stopped and all was calm.”

So, we really must not worry or fret over circumstances that are like the waves that frightened the disciples on that stormy night. Instead, let us remember that in everything we go through, Christ is there with us. Instead of shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” let us stand up and speak to the storm confidently in Jesus’ name and allow God to take control.

Life is beautiful, and it certainly comes with its own set of challenges, but rather than allowing the challenge to overtake us, rest in the knowledge that once our Savior speaks on our behalf—everyone and every circumstance has no choice but to yield.

You are blessed and well-covered.
