I believe a part of humility is recognizing that we are imperfect. Understanding that we are also fallible, we have dedicated our lives to a God who loves us unconditionally as we are, and wants us to strive for righteousness in all that we do.
Personally, I have let Him down numerous times, but I hold on to the relationship that I believe I have with Him, one that is forgiving and full of mercy and understanding. As I read through the book of Hebrews, I am forever grateful for our High Priest who understands all we face. Our High Priest lives forever and will intercede on our behalf. Our High Priest faced temptations much like us yet did not sin, and like Him who resisted, so must we. He is our example of not giving in when the enemy comes to us. Can we walk righteously? Certainly, but not by ourselves.
There are two things we must keep in the fore of our mind:
Ephesians 6:12 NIV
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
and in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NIV
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
It therefore means all that we need to be the righteous people of God is at our disposal. We are admonished to suit up with God’s Armor found in Ephesians 6:10-18 NIV
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Today, I remind you that you can be the child of God you are called to be. You can resist the temptation to do wrong and choose the best outcome for your life. Today, you must extend grace to yourself and others as needed. You must understand that you are not foolproof and that you will make mistakes, but you must welcome God’s mercy, forgiveness, and His help. It is a process, a daily walk that takes you closer and closer to your eternity.
Amazing Love & Light!
