What really matters in this lifetime?
What truly matters in this lifetime? Is it our accomplishments? Our acts of service or good deeds? Going to church faithfully? How polite, respectful, and kind we have been? The deals we’ve made that afford us the luxuries in life? There are many things that bring us satisfaction, but there may also be instances where we wish we had done more, been better, or treated someone kinder.
It’s important to understand that everything we have done is rooted in our need to survive and live a decent life in a challenging world. Some things we do because we’re expected to, while others are simply part of our human nature.
Recently, I have come to realize that no matter how much personal growth I achieve, the control I exercise, or the dominion I take, it all falls short of making me feel complete if I don’t believe and yield to what Ephesians 3:20 shares. It falls short if I’m not dwelling in Psalms 91 or taking heed of the instructions in all of The Proverbs. Even if I try to live up to Matthew 6:33, I fall short.
We can all pretend to be happy or religious, but it is crucial to allow the word of God to come alive in our lives, as Hebrews 4:12 and 2 Timothy 3:15 suggest. It is important not to try to be good Christians only on the exterior, while our hearts do not reflect true Christianity—one that brings peace and righteousness.
I have faced many battles, such as struggling with submission as a wife, dwelling on the past to use against myself or others, and more. But there comes a time when Godly wisdom must prevail, a time when the word of God, alive in us, brings understanding through the Holy Spirit, reminding us of who we are.
Holiness is attainable; we simply need to desire to be holy. With God, all things are possible, so there’s no need to face these challenges alone.
So, what Really Matters in this lifetime for you?
May you be encouraged by these two verses…
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:16.
This is why we continually thank God for your lives because you received our message wholeheartedly. You embraced it not as the fabrication of men but as the word of God. And the word continues to be an energizing force in you who believe.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 TPT
