Many times I have heard from others and have said it also myself, ‘if I knew then what I now know, life would be different’. Have you ever said that to yourself? Experience teaches us, right? How would experience show up without not knowing then what we now know.? I am happy for the experiences because you know what they have done for me, they have allowed me to encounter situations and grow through them, gaining wisdom as I go along.
There was a time in my life when I looked to myself for everything, it was not that I did not know God but, with all I had to do—work, kids, and a long-distance marriage that was not working as it should, I pretty much relegated God to file 13 (that’s a file that hardly gets any attention). As I look back at those days, I realize I was going through life’s motions without thought or feeling, and while on the outside it seemed I had it all together, my life on the inside was a mess. I had no joy at work, barely had time for my children, and I was pretty much done with my marriage.
I found myself in a dark place that had me out of control. I was depressed and living a meaningless life that was too far gone because no matter how I tried, I could not talk myself out of the heaviness I felt. I knew I was in trouble but could not help myself. Poor decisions were the result which caused me to spiral even more, and then God rescued me.
Number One In My Life Without Fail
One day I was out with a girlfriend, and she stopped in a bookstore to get a book for her son—an avid reader. While she looked, I browsed, and this moment that I am going to share is forever etched in the annals of my mind. I saw the book “The Threshing Floor” by Juanita Bynum, I was unsure why my mind connected to the word THRESHING, but it did. In any event, I carried on with my browsing of the many titles carried by the bookstore. My day went on, and I did the usual daily activities—got the kids from school, got home, fed them, and went to bed. At about 2 AM the following morning I was awakened out of my sleep, and the words ‘THRESHING floor’ came to my senses along with a song that I cannot remember. I could not shake the word from my mind, and I decided to google it.
He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.”
Matthew 3:12 NLT
He’s going to clean house—make a clean sweep of your lives. He’ll place everything true in its proper place before God; everything false He’ll put out with the trash to be burned.”
Matthew 3:12 MSG
I can never articulate the feeling that rose within me when I read those words and further researched on the threshing floor. Suffice it to say that God was rescuing me. I knew it! It was like a word straight to my heart, cutting through the darkness, reminding me of the light within me, and at that moment, I knew all was well. He was separating the good (wheat) in me—(bringing it into the light where I, along with others, will flourish) from the bad (chaff). He has me in the palm of His hands. The light has not gone out since. Sometimes it gets a bit dim, but I am always brought back into its glory with a reminder that I am truly loved and kept by my Almighty Father. That makes Him number one in my life without fail.
This brings me to the point of this blog. Having had that experience with Him, He Is Number One In My Life Without Fail. There is no if, but or, maybe; HE IS NUMBER ONE. I have been in the lowest of the low, and I remember what that feels like. There was a point in my life when I could not fathom why people committed suicide, it was not until I walked in their shoes that I understood. And I no longer condemn them, but I now understand because I was there too. The message here is that if you are going through difficult times, turn to Jesus before it gets out of hand. JESUS SAVES.
Put Him first place, and all that you NEED, NOT WANT, will be given to you. Trust in His grace to cover you and deliver you from the enemy’s stronghold over your life.
…the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
1 John 4:4
Rest in that truth. Read your Bible, pray and submit to the Holy Spirit. Take your hands off the wheel, so to speak, and give it to God. And please always remember…
And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. and when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. 2 Kings 6:16-18
What more can I say? As Christians and those sitting on the fence, understand what you have, feel peace knowing what you have, and live accordingly. Let go and let God have His way, it is the best way, but you must place Him as Number One In Your Life Without Fail.
Lots Of Love And Amazing Light!
