So I want to start by sharing a story with you of an extraordinary girl who allowed people and circumstances to take away her joy, faith, her truth, and that many times in the past, she would speak, and the things would come to pass. She forgot that her joy came from the Lord. She allowed her circumstances to derail her and cause her to shrink; perhaps hide is a better word. She convinced herself that she was not enough, that people were talking negatively about her more than they were talking good. She became shortsighted, no longer able to see her greatness. She became impatient with herself and others and was rarely calm when faced with situations she had no control over. She would blow up over simple things that simple tolerance could handle and have a positive outcome. She got to a point where she would look at herself in the mirror with immense feelings of desolation and disenchantment with her life.
And one day, she decided to change. She remembered who she was, the Godly affirmations she would speak over her life. She remembered the many encouraging conversations she would have with others and that we are what we speak and think. She shared an experience as a testimony of her breakthrough from the darkness and re-entry into ‘the light’.
I had a specific situation with a timeline to deliver to an entity. A few days passed, and I was inching closer to the deadline date and had yet to be contacted by my supplier. And so I made the call only to receive the dreaded news; they could not meet the deadline. My immediate response would usually result from a rush of anger—I will leave you to imagine. However, I felt a quiet calm within me, a feeling I have not felt in a long time, and I said to the representative on the phone, after making sure I had a smile in my voice, ” I am not accepting that, I know you will call me with good news in a couple of days”.
Here is where her face alights even more with joyful emotion as she explains that two days later, within the timeline, the representative called and asked where to deliver the products.
Like this extraordinary girl, you may have forgotten how important what we speak and think is to the quality of life we live. You may feel disenchanted with your life. You may have given up on yourself and have started to shrink, but I remind you of the power of words to change circumstances, the power of words to usher in our ideal life, the power of words to allow us to have unyielding joy in our circumstances, good or bad.
I want you to remember to take a breath when the going gets tough, take a deep breath, pause, and then respond to whatever life brings to you within that moment with positivity. Always think the best of yourself and others—always. Then watch the transformation that takes place in your life and your space.
Speak life and attract goodness in your life; You Really Are What You Speak and Think.
Words kill, words give life;
they’re either poison or fruit—you choose. Proverbs 18:21
