Matthew 4:15-16 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, beside the lake, and the countryside beyond the Jordan River, and Upper Galilee where so many foreigners live—there the people who sat in darkness have seen a great Light; they sat in the land of death, and the Light broke through upon them.”
This is me – “I don’t want to have to interact with others, I have done so much of that in very superficial circumstances and I will do no more of it. I just want to stay where I am and write my heart out. After all this is my passion – me, God and these words”.
Them to those who are shining their light in a genuine way – ” She’s too much, who does she think she is, she behaves as if she’s better than us. She cannot talk to us”
Others: “Go on girl, while deep inside they really do not mean it, they are waiting to see her stumble and fall”.
There are many reasons why we prefer to stay in the shadows, inertia, fear of people, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of not being heard, fear of being a social media joke, fear of appearing boastful and taken the wrong way. Many reasons that do not count in the grand scheme of God’s plan and purpose for our life. Many reasons that are quite invalid and pale when we discover God’s plans and intent for mankind.
I am always one to “want to” follow God’s lead especially when it is crystal clear and evident in His Word. And as Christians everything we need to learn of God’s will for our lives is in His Word. Unfortunately most times we do not read, we then make assumptions based on a feeling or a “leading”. Understand that assumptions are never good in any situation. We must know! and what better way to know than reading the Word. Then, there is no need to guess or spell in any situation.
If we read from the beginning of Matthew 4 we realize that after Jesus was tempted and the angels ministered to Him; He went back to His hometown of Nazareth. Shortly after He moves to Capernaum, close to Zebulun and Naphtali, two towns beside the Lake of Galilee, where foreigners resided.
It is interesting to note that these were towns in which the people lived in darkness – sin. Jesus could have stayed in His comfort zone and preached to those who were already in the light. But how would that have allowed Him to carry out His life’s purpose? And so He moved. Irrespective of the fact that the place He would go to was foreign to Him. Irrespective of the fact that He may be rejected and face all sorts of negatives. His purpose, His light (His identity) was to reach the lost. Those who were in darkness and as a result of Him moving, people’s lives were changed.
Luke 19:10 (NIV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
So I put this to all of us as children of God; what is your purpose but to move into areas that seem daunting, to do things that are unfamiliar. To not be concerned about others opinions including your own. But only wanting to do your Father’s will which is very clear in His Words.
Galatians 1:10, KJV: "For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to
please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."
Understand that opinions or what we think, do not count. What counts is our willingness to do what God requires of us. He will equip us and give us the supernatural strength and ability to do His calling, so never feel like you are alone!
Your Light (Your Identity) is very much needed in this world and in the space you occupy. Never be afraid to shine your light. It is the means by which God has equipped you to bring awareness of who He is to those who are living in darkness.
Simply put!
Go Shine Your Light and make your identity as a child of God known so others will glorify your Father in Heaven and want to do and be the same. We only have to read the story of the Samaritan Woman to understand.
Your words and interpretation of the Bible moves me. It encourages me to be a better person whether it’s spiritual or educational. Reading your words helps me to realize how much more I need to learn about the Lord. Keep pouring your heart out as it touches many others.
Thank you for those words if affirmation Shamar. Knowing Jesus through His words gives all that we need. Continued blessings
