“The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes. That’s the day we truly grow up.” John C. Maxwell.
Sometimes I forget who I am and I buckle under the influences of the world pulling me in all sorts of direction. I get overwhelmed by everything that I have to deal with; home, kids, work and my other aspirations, before I know it, not only am I consumed but, I also want to find a place of refuge. A place where I can escape from everything – anyone with me or am I the only one that can relate. I look around and I wonder how and when did I get here, was this the plan all along because I do not remember any of it and then it hits me that this is life.
This is life and it is the reality of today and there is no need for me to hide from it because guess what it is not going anywhere. Lucky for us life is not constant, neither is it consistent; what might be difficult today is definitely easier tomorrow. I have also learned the art of living daily and making the most of each day so that tomorrow will be taken care of. I find myself taking mental notes about what is best for me, because, I acknowledge how precious each minute is and that if today does not serve me, I can choose a different tomorrow. We are not obligated to anyone but ourselves and as such we really should assess where we are in life and figure out if all that we are doing is worth it.
As this world degenerates it is up to us and only us to create the kind of environment that will allow us to thrive. We have that kind of control and we have that power. There are things I would put up with yesterday that I will not accept today because of how I see my life and where I intend to direct it.
It is time that we take control and live each day optimally and with love of course.
I don’t know if I can say this too much but we were not meant to meander through life (aimlessly) without purpose. God did not create us to be self-serving or to just get by, there is so much satisfaction when we begin to understand and come into alignment with our purpose. That is where our power lies – in our purpose.
Imagine living long enough and looking back at your life unable to say that you were satisfied with your contribution…
Have you discovered your purpose? It is not a big thing … it starts with serving others and it is that simple. Make a change if you need to, change your situation if you are not satisfied. Everything that we need lies within us – it was given to us from birth. Seek it out, we only have to look at the life of Jesus and we will know what we ought to be doing. It is just one decision away.
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Lots of love and light.
