Sunday Inspire – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.

No matter what we think we know or feel about life (as Christians) or how we apply our own wisdom and belief to how we should act or think, we of ourselves know nothing. What about how our thoughts on applying God’s word or how we should treat each other? Or what is acceptable conversations – or the approach we should take? Without understanding and knowing God for ourselves, we know nothing.

To truly know our Father gives us the wisdom that we need in all things. Knowing our Heavenly Father allows us to act and think with purpose not just for ourselves but towards others.

Years ago I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior and as I look back I can say that I knew nothing. Fast forward nine years later and I can say with lots of caution that it took me 7 years to understand the divine nature of my walk and the wisdom available. I am just appreciating all of the lessons having heard them years before. I now understand that I do not choose – to not sin (my ability to resist sin is not up to me) but most importantly it becomes second nature because of grace, albeit much fleshly struggle. I understand that I have to be more aware of situations I get myself into as attractive or right as it might seem. I understand that grace is not permission to sin but rather grace somehow causes me to not want to sin.

Fear of the Lord does not mean we cower, but it means we KNOW our Heavenly Father and we understand fully what it means to call Him Father. Just as how He loves us unconditionally – knowing Him allows us too to fall in love with him and grow to love and understand and hold on to His word, His Spirit, within us, that tells us to walk in His light where darkness will never have a chance to win us.
