Sunday Inspire – Let’s be real

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ERV)

“You should know that your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit that you received from God and that lives in you. You don’t own yourselves. God paid a very high price to make you his. So honor God with your body.”

happinessMost times we immediately think about the spiritual aspect of this verse and not consider the practical aspect. We focus on how we worship, how we treat each other, but, what about how we treat ourselves? How are we taking care of God’s temple so that he can feel comfortable within His temple?

Real Talk.

We (at times) abuse our bodies through the things we expose ourselves to via our ears and our eyes. The things we eat. Do we take time out to keep physically fit so we are healthy possessing the needed energy to face each day triumphantly? Or, do we awaken each day feeling lethargic, restless and not in the best mood causing our day to not be as successful as it should. The question is – do we exercise?

Do we take time out to meditate as instructed in Joshua 1:8 (TLB)

“Constantly remind the people about these laws, and you yourself must think about them every day and every night so that you will be sure to obey all of them. For only then will you succeed.”

Or, are we constantly on the go?

Do we rest enough; do we have a set time for bed? Look at what Psalm 127:2 (TLB) says

It is senseless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, fearing you will starve to death; for God wants his loved ones to get their proper rest.

God created rest for us!

Do we accept our bodies the way they are, or do we gripe and complain about our shape and feel the need to make physical changes? Do we get routine checkups? So many questions to ask ourselves…

Time to get real.

God wants us to be practical about life and his temple. He does not want us rejecting, mistreating, and overindulging his temple. He wants to feel comfortable in his temple and we ought to give him that by doing what is right to ensure that we take care of ourselves; not just spiritually but also physically.

I encourage you to look within and see if they are any changes needed to ensure that God’s Temple is in the best shape, after all, He deserves nothing but our best.

It is time to get real about our lives!
