I recently had a conversation with someone and in hindsight wish I had resisted the need to speak. The words I spoke came from pent-up emotions I thought needed to get out which offered no solution but was rather a tirade that I summed up as complaining.
How many of us can attest to being in a similar situation where we allow emotions to rule us.
Our hearts scream yes to Jesus; our hearts filled with the right thoughts towards Jesus, wanting to be like him, yet, our actions shows something different. I recall the many instances in the bible when Jesus had to rebuke Peter or some other disciple because of their actions and thoughts towards others. I admit it is not an easy task to subdue our emotions, but, it is a state that we should strive for. Once our actions run contrary to the love we should have, then our love means nothing.
We quickly say God knows our heart, and, while that is true, he also wants us to get to the point where our heart is aligned to our actions.
Our Soul (home to our emotions) needs to be aligned to our spirit (the place of love). I am reminded of how important it is to think the best first until we know differently and that comes through wisdom. Wisdom requires control so we can see and hear clearly, wisdom allows truth to come forth. Only then are we able to make godly decisions about any person or situation in our lives that we need to separate ourselves from or speak out against. We should not choose to speak out against a situation based on our feelings. We could be wrong!
The thoughts of the Lord are good towards us; shouldn’t we have the same thoughts towards each other first?
