I was seeking Happiness, Silly Me

happiness

“I think if you set out to achieve a particular thing in life and make it become a subconscious part of you, if you want it so bad that you are always intently seeking – rest assured, that thing which you search for will always find you”.

I remember years ago I would think to myself – when I get the House on the Hill that I have been dreaming about, then I will be happy. Then I would say, when I have a certain amount in my bank account, then I will be happy. Another time I found myself saying, when I get the perfect Job, absolutely, positively, then I will be happy. The “when I” went on and on.

This was my thinking for many years. I associated my happiness to the external achievements in my life. What I found out overtime was that there will always be something. So as soon as I achieved one of these milestones and experienced happiness in my own way; happiness did not stay.

I think if you set out to achieve a particular thing in life and make it become a subconscious part of you, if you want it so bad that you are always intently seeking – rest assured, that thing which you search for will always find you.

So I was thrust into a situation where all control was removed from me. I no longer had the ability to say “when I”. This made me realize that I could only say “I surrender all control”. Only then did I begin to experience a hint of lasting happiness. In the same instance I found out that I no longer needed to seek this thing called happiness because I found something far superior which is JOY and that there is a difference.

In my quest to find that thing I thought would complete me I found something far greater; and it was nothing I could do for myself, it was nothing I could bring into my space on my own. I found that because of my limitations and my challenges, I could not give to myself that which I was seeking. I had to surrender to The One who could take me into a state of mind that would allow me to usher everything that I needed to become a part of me.

I found something greater than Happiness, I found JOY. What are you seeking today? Are you seeking happiness? Please leave a comment and share your thoughts, I am looking forward to interacting with you. If you have not subscribed as yet – please Join our family by subscribing below.

Seize the DayWe begin by healing ourselves, our hearts, our mind and even our physical bodies. We surrender to everything that we are afraid of, we surrender to everything that we have no control of. We begin to heal by accepting ourselves as we are; the flaws and all but in accepting we move from who we are, to who we need to become. We become – by allowing God’s Spirit to intertwine with ours, consuming us, changing us, molding us, shaping us into our best selves. We give over control of our whole being and watch and see the transformation that takes place. It has to be a wholesome approach to being healed with unwavering belief that we can be healed. It can never be a half-hearted approach or it will be a waste of time. You will be healed to see that you can exist in a world filled with every undesirable thing that can be thought of, but those very things will not affect you.
