The short-lived attractiveness of the world has laid siege on so many of us. We find ourselves unable to control our longings and our need to respond or walk away from things that causes us to discard our salvation or put it away temporarily for temporal pleasures. I can speak with authority on this matter as I have struggled with some of these things myself, yet I now recognize the need to not do so anymore. I have realized that as attractive as some things are I cannot afford to lose out on what I know is far better. I can hear someone saying it is easy for me to say, and yes it is – now- but I encourage you if you are reading this today that everything we do is a matter of choice and the kind of expectations we have set for ourselves.
Let us look at some things that we choose over our salvation:-
- Choosing to be on social media even when the Holy Spirit prompts us to do something else
- Choosing to respond to an offense because of pride rather than walking away.
- Saying yes when we know we should say no to an ex or someone who does not mean us any good.
Our inability to understand or give credence or priority to our salvation is very evident in our lives. It is our way of being on the “fence” sometimes thinking its okay and God will understand. What I would like to point out however is that we are actually taking advantage of God’s love and mercy and patience towards us.
We do not know when our time will be and so we ought to pay heed to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We ought to move in time with the Spirit after all he is our “bodyguard” so to speak; he is our “future-teller.” The Holy Spirit knows what will happen and so who better to guide us and keep us on track.
The Holy Spirit is our go to… He is God residing in us. We should not ignore him but we should flow with him. He is the leader into our truth. We cannot be part time Christians or people who give our salvation away albeit temporarily.
We need to be committed to our walk and fully engage the Holy Spirit in all aspects of our life. Not some things but all things great and small…. I heard a story once about a woman who in everything she did she had to ask God what to do. If she went to the market she would ask, should I choose the cabbage or the lettuce? A bit laughable yes…a bit extreme some would say, but you get the picture. Seek God in all aspect of your life, listen and watch for God’s leading; that is what He expects us to do.
Get connected to your inner Spirit and be guided by your inner Spirit, you cannot go wrong.
