Deuteronomy 1:2
The speech was given on February 15, forty years after the people of Israel left Mount Horeb—though it takes only eleven days to travel by foot from Mount Horeb to Kadesh-barnea, going by way of Mount Seir!
1 Samuel 17:45-47 (MSG)
David answered, “You come at me with sword and spear and battle-ax. I come at you in the name of God-of-the-Angel-Armies, the God of Israel’s troops, whom you curse and mock. This very day God is handing you over to me… I’m about to kill you, cut off your head, and serve up your body and the bodies of your Philistine buddies to the crows and coyotes. The whole earth will know that there’s an extraordinary God in Israel. And everyone gathered here will learn that God doesn’t save by means of sword or spear. The battle belongs to God—he’s handing you to us on a platter!”
I have had to deal with this topic of knowing oneself and who we serve on so many occasions, too many to count that at this point, I am ashamed. We talk about the children of Israel and the fact that they were in the desert journeying to the Promised Land, a journey that took them 40 years as opposed to 11 days and today we have not learned from them.
All God needed from them was their obedience to Him, their worship and praise to Him, He wanted them to rely on Him, to believe in Him, to forsake everything else and look to Him. He wanted the Israelites to understand that He is the God-of-the-Angel-Armies. Do we even understand what God-of-the-Angel-Armies mean? It means there is nothing greater than the Almighty father that we call upon. It means we need not look anywhere else but to Him. It means that we should rest knowing that we are well taken care of.
We should not make the same mistakes, at some point we should learn from them and not only learn from them but pray that we avoid the unnecessary lessons. We should pray to always keep ourselves open to the Holy Spirit who was given to us by The-God-of-Angel-Armies as our comforter, as our guide while here on this physical earth.
Your Affirmation – Smile and Say– I surrender to My Heavenly Father, The God-of-the-Angel-Armies who surrounds me ready to fight for me. I cast all unnecessary burdens aside and focus in Him alone.
