Matthew 11:27-30…No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does. But I’m not keeping it to myself; I’m ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen. “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t say anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
In Matthew Chapter 11 we see Jesus talking about John the Baptist and that indeed he was a prophet and that many saw him but did not accept him for who he was just as many did not accept Jesus either. He told them that as great as John was even the lowliest person who accepts Christ is still ahead of him.
Jesus wanted the people to hear but he was not going to force them to listen. He knew how spoiled and unfocused they were always misreading the situation because they were not spiritually mature. He also told them when people are unfocused and led by their own way and desires that their opinion really does not matter. Jesus wants us to grow up and mature spiritually and realize what is happening before us and responding accordingly but once again he will not force anything on anyone. We all have a choice and we will suffer or rejoice at the consequence of our decisions and actions.
He reminds the people that he is filled with the wisdom they need and that he is available and wants to share with anyone who desires this wisdom. Jesus wants us to believe in him and his love towards us. He will take care of us and remove our sorrows so we can have freedom to live righteous. We will live a life that is free from heavy burdens.
