What is faith, when a heart is hurting? When a mother loses a child? When a wife loses her husband? When one becomes stricken with a life threatening illness? When anyone is faced with a major setback? What is faith to them?
It is at this point that the flesh succumbs to all sorts of emotions – when life is interrupted, everything changes.
In encouraging someone, anyone who is reading this, I admit it is difficult to embrace especially if you are a Christian, strong or otherwise, mature in your faith or otherwise. You may put up a nice front but behind closed doors it is something else. I encourage you, that, like Abraham – “against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, and “So shall your offspring be.” Romans 4:18.
What this tells me is that despite what the natural showed, Abraham chose to SEE BEYOND what was present in the natural. Remember Abraham and Sarah were way beyond the stage of conceiving and delivering a healthy baby. You know what Sarah did, she pretty much laughed at the whole situation. Maybe she was a little embarrassed that at her age she would be going through pregnancy – isn’t that the normal, natural, worldly thing to do? Not Abraham! Even though he might have harbored doubts which is okay (and believe that it is okay), at a point we must move our thoughts and immerse them into a place where we see beyond our circumstances . SEEING BEYOND our circumstances will propel us into a place of hope that will allow us to have faith and believe that things will come together for our good.
We must understand that by faith there is a bigger picture to all of this. When life is interrupted, when things happen, we must dwell in a place like Abraham – “against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and know that our faith will take us through. If we will walk by faith and not by sight, we will dwell in the spiritual world which is where God wants us to be. All our blessings, everything that we need exists in this spiritual world, but, we often times close it off not wanting to accept such a thing. This is where we fall short, but, I am impressed to remind us that, no matter the challenges of our circumstances, the seemingly hopelessness, we must find hope and believe in the promises of God. We must start living from our spirit which comforts us and strengthens us and removes doubt that will cause us to waiver.
Like Abraham we must see beyond what we deem as impossible and know that we serve a God who makes all things possible.
I feel somebody’s tension leaving and I am happy. Choose HOPE and know through FAITH that we really can dismiss the heartache and trade it in for JOY through faith. We can stand strong when life is interrupted.
