Happiness & Girlfriends

Who said women could not get along? Gone are the days, when I listened to the saying that women “tore” each other to “smithereens” rather than lift each other up. I wonder if this appreciation of each other comes as we get older, sad to think, but perhaps true. Something to dive deeper into I think; it does merit some research.

Is it that as we get older we are bombarded with all sorts of situations? Family, work, kids, husbands/boyfriends which causes us to seek release and opportunities to “let down our hair” and exhale with our girlfriends?

Which brings me to my point, that happiness & girlfriends do co-exist.

It is so pleasant to think about having conversations over a glass of wine (yes, as Christians we are allowed that because we do know moderation) that does not focus on hair, shoes, makeup, the other half or the kids. Instead, conversations that allow us to unwind and just be real about life and our progression in this world. Authenticity rises up and any need to pretend becomes useless because by now, we understand each other and can see through the shallowness.

I came across this quote and I just love it because it epitomizes the type of girl circle I am encouraging here, the type that I believe in. “If you can find a group of women, any age, who are supportive and kind and love you, that’s the best. I have a group of girlfriends that I would lay in front of a bus for. They’ve picked me up through really; really bad times and I can definitely say I’ve done the same for them”. Katie Lowes

Your girlfriend circle should facilitate mutual ministering to each other; everyone is there to support each other. Everyone is available for each other, no one should be self-seeking but everyone should encourage each other. Your girlfriend circle should  restore joy when there is a get together; without anyone feeling that the other had imposed their beliefs on them. Everyone in the group should leave feeling happy and upbeat.

So yes I believe in Happiness & Girlfriends. It brings a certain joy and peace knowing that when we “meet up” there is mutual understanding, support, encouragement without judgement.

Cheers to Happiness & Girlfriends….
