So we want this and we want that… We sit in church and get filled with the teaching of prosperity and believe in it so much that it raises our level of expectation. We then muster up all the “faith” we can; believing and thinking that is all that is required. Belief will work, but not in and of itself! So let me pose this question – what are we doing? Let’s talk. Let’s get real? What have we done to receive blessings?
Let’s see…
Abraham demonstrated his trust and obedience to God and God blessed him to become the father of many nations. It did not happen overnight, he walked the talk. He was God’s friend. He was consistent in his faith.Moses and Elijah, both were disobedient, yet still found favor with God, through their faith. They received their blessings.
Joseph, destined for greatness although it took many years to manifest in his life. Through it all he remained faithful to God and to his calling. He suffered unfairly but that made him stronger and well revered. In the end he received his blessings.
David went through a lot of challenges despite being anointed to become King when he was a child. It was many years before he was actually crowned king. Through all the challenges he did not let go of God’s promises to him. He was faithful to that knowledge; he knew he was nothing without God. He received his blessings and became a great king.
What are we doing to receive blessings? This is a different time from what is described in the Old Testament – life seems more challenging. What I know should remain consistent are, our faith, our trust, our obedience, and our acknowledgement of who remains Supreme in our lives, also our knowledge of the kind of life God requires us to live.
What are we doing? Are we extending ourselves to others, do we evangelize? Or, do we believe going to church does it all? Are we kind to strangers, giving to the poor and downtrodden, are we lifting each other up or tearing each other down? Is our lifestyle reflective of the fruits of the Spirit – Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control and faithfulness; are these seen in our lives?
Come on people, what are we really doing to receive our blessings?
My messages are not for everyone but for who they are … Take heed. God loves you. He wants the best for you.
