There are some pastors who do not realize that when they are preaching this prosperity Gospel they are twisting the word of God and using it in a way that elevates Satan. Now I know it is not intentional but still…They are distracting God’s people from what he wants them to focus on. Love, simplicity, harmony and taking care of each other; instead they are pushing them to focus on themselves and the “me” mentality. What it is doing is putting pleasure before pain. It is causing people to ask for more when they should be giving more. I am by no means saying we should not want to achieve in this lifetime of course we need to because I cannot preach to you and I am unhappy; but I believe we need to be talking about Matthew 6:33.

If we are not living the way God desires; if the fruit of the spirit is not a lifestyle then what kind of blessings are we expecting? We will wait in vain, God is waiting to bless us, but, if we only expect to receive without living a life that demonstrates giving, caring and sharing, if we live in strife, if we do not acknowledge the gospel but instead use God’s goodness as a means to an end, do not expect any blessing. If the family home is in shambles because we are not running a well oiled machine, do not expect a blessing. If we wake up each day with a “me” mentality, forget it, there will be no blessing coming forth right there. If we have unforgiveness within – no blessings can reach us because we have that huge mountain before us.

So why not remind the flock about these things and then tell them to expect a blessing. We are like the children of Israel, we have good intentions but if things do not happen on our time we change as easily as the wind that blows. If we do not get an answer in our time we dismiss our prayers and proceed to take over the issues and solve them through our own effort. How can we really expect to be blessed? We are playing a game, testing God. We need to clean house… Ask God to put our house in order first. Then we do what Matthew 6:33 says and wait and expect the blessing. There are no freebies … We must show which path we are treading. We must become qualified.

The last word – know that those who are seemingly prosperous in worldly terms and seem to be doing well if they are not living a Godly lifestyle under it all is pure turmoil. Believe that!

So do not get it twisted, do not be fooled. The best equation is God+man doing good = prosperity and fulfillment beyond what we could ever hope imagine dream etc.
