Let there be Light.

CONFIDENCEGenesis 1:2-4 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

As I prayed this morning, I heard myself repeating Genesis 1:2-4. As I ended my prayer the same verses of scripture came back to me. As I further reflected on these particular bible verses knowing that God was giving me a message I realised that we are representative of these words. Our lives are wrapped around these words that are significant in our lives.

As the earth was formless and empty with darkness over the surface of the deep, so our lives were before we became aware and accepted God into our lives. So are we when we get caught up with the things of this world and not those above. Without the power of God at work in our lives, we are without form – we are without the necessary structure to become who God wants us to be. We are void of the good things while God is hovering – always hovering above us – waiting for us to allow him to say … Let there be light and for light to be in us.

So God says “Let there be light” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. We can become this light; we can separate from the darkness in this world. So many times we get caught up in a web of darkness and deceit and we need light (God’s light) shed on the situation. As Christians we cannot afford to be blinded to truth and darkness separates us from truth. If we allow God to create light in our lives and further, keep declaring light over all situations that we meet, the more we will end unnecessary struggles in our lives and truth will come forth.

Let us pray together that God not only hover over our waters, but, we will open ourselves to Him. We will allow Him to make us with form and command light to separate from the darkness in our lives. Then we will be people possessing all of what we need to live as God intends for us.

Father I pray that I will not just allow your light to shine through me but that I will be the salt of the earth, witnessing and bringing good news not just through your words but through my life, In Jesus name. Amen
