Be Not Deceived

Luke 21:8 (TLB)

He replied, “Don’t let anyone mislead you. For many will come announcing themselves as the Messiah, and saying, ‘The time has come.’ But don’t believe them!

Sometimes the best things in life despite our better judgment are not the best things for us. Sometimes God allows us to go through some things because He knows that we will be better at the end of it. I remember I use to pray in earnest that God would place me in a position to help the less fortunate or people in general who needed help financially , spiritually, emotionally and every “ally” that one could think of. There was always that feeling inside me that needed to reach people. I am that emotional girl that would cry at every sad, deep, challenging situation that I saw others being faced with. I always felt for others plain and straight. I wanted to champion the lost causes if I could. I would sit and imagine being in that position. What I did not realize at that time was that I too needed help.

So I continued to pray and beseech God, I did not understand that in order to help others, I needed to be in a better place emotionally and spiritually and all the other “allys” too. You see, we can all make worthwhile contributions that will make sense on the surface but for our contribution to have a deeper impact to us and the receiver we need to be in alignment with God. I never realized that the baggage that I was touting around had to go before I could really help.

Do not be deceived, most times the enemy knowing our desires for ourselves, will use those well to do desires and create a situation that seems to line up with what we want but his intent is really to cause us harm. We should always be on guard and never underestimate the enemy. The biggest alarm comes when we feel great discomfort about our decisions during the process of helping others. The discomfort within is something we should never downplay. God gives signs that help to keep us on track or to let us know that we are in danger.

So we need to be aware and be not decieved. We need to pray about what is in our heart so that the enemy’s plan to cause harm will not take place. When we guard ourselves by becoming more spiritually aware we will recognise when the enemy is trying to come up against us. We will know when he is using deceit to distort the truth. We will immediately identify the enemy’s plan and we will be able to put a stop to it.

Be not deceived!!!!
