I have learned that to overcome the devil and take charge over our lives and situations is directly related to the level of our relationship with God and his word. As we become spiritually mature we are able to recognize more often than not when we are under attack. How do we become spiritually mature?
One of the ways we become spiritually mature and are able to start taking charge of our lives is through reading the bible and meditating on the words in the bible. Finding scriptures that relates to building our inner man and related to our unique circumstances are important.
- Our scriptures (which is what I will call them), will help to train our minds into thinking positive thoughts and aid in us encouraging ourselves as David had to do.
- Our scriptures will constantly remind us of who we are in Christ and clearly show that we are not alone when we begin to walk with God.
- Our scriptures will educate us by highlighting the devil’s intentions towards us and clearly show us that our battle will be constant.
If we memorize our scriptures and speak them constantly over our lives especially when we get into a dark place, we will be surprised to see how momentary the darkness is. This is a demonstration of us taking charge!!!
We are certainly no match for Satan. He will wear us down if we allow him by not taking charge. We can however guard our hearts and especially our mind. Declaring constant victory over our lives by incorporating into our routine the habit of speaking God’s word over our lives. Satan wants us to constantly experience hopelessness but I am here to say it’s all in the mind.
Therefore! if we control our minds by taking charge over our thoughts we are already making Satan null and void. We must take charge by speaking God’s words over our lives (audibly) allowing ourselves to hear it so we believe it. Remember taking charge of our lives includes our mind. We need to create the habit of doing that and witness the difference it will create in our lives.
If we say we are followers of Jesus Christ then the bible gives us good instructions to follow, for example in Joshua 1:8. The bible clearly tells us to always remember ( to constantly keep in mind) the book of law. Speak (openly) about it and study (memorize) it day and night. Then we will be sure to obey (it becomes natural/habit) what is written there. If you do this, you will be wise (have knowledge and good judgment, become aware of) and have success (have favor/ correct and desired result) in everything (not some things but in everything) we do.
If we applied this one verse to the topic at hand it would read something like this:
We can say with conviction that God said, if we keep his words on our mind constantly and ensure that we memorize and speak it over our lives making it become a natural part of us. We will possess knowledge and good judgment to be successful at everything, including defeating the enemy. Isn’t that the result we desire? Is this not taking charge though God’s word, if it is not then I do not know what is!!! Be blessed.
