We are doing good, be encouraged.

Romans 8:1 (KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

We often wonder why bad things happen to us, why is lack in my life, why a favorite person in my life has to be stricken with disease to the point of dying? Why that favorite child has to be such a disappointment?

As I ponder on the many questions all related to bad things happening to us…I remember a verse which makes me feel even worse.

Galatians 6:7-8 (KJV) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

What does this mean to me? This is where I get stuck trying to figure out how does this fit into my current situation of having to deal with negatives in my life.

So why am I experiencing “less than” situations? Could this possibly mean that I am going contrary to the part in the above bible verse that says “but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting”.

Then it dawned on me – why do I believe that the bad or less than ideal situations in my life are caused by sowing bad seeds.  If that is the case then why do I have good in my life most importantly Joy and Peace?

Am I looking at this verse and my life from the “flesh” point of view rather than “the spiritual” which should be my focus? When we look at it from flesh we will always see the negative in life rather than the good which always outweigh the bad. Isn’t it funny that one little negative can overshadow so many positives?

This is how the enemy works on our mind. He knows we question ourselves and uses the opportunity to condemn us, ready to distort the lesson God is imparting to us in the verse. Making us automatically focus on the negative part of the verse, successfully removing the positive.

We need to remember that the Bible is there for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching the right way to live. 2 Timothy 3:16 (no condemnation).

I think we get the gist of what I am trying to say here, we need to stop being so hard on ourselves, we need to embrace that we will never be perfect until we get to heaven. Therefore allow God to be the perfect one. Pray to God to open our spiritual eyes so we will see how blessed our lives are. We can then encourage others and help them too see their blessing amidst the negatives they might be encountering.

We are doing good despite what the enemy will throw at us and make us feel. We are doing good! Let us remember that our goal is to please God and not ourselves. Neither is it to try and impress the world. We are failing ourselves when we do that. In all things let us try to focus on God’s word and make our actions align themselves to His word. If negatives happen, we then need to do a self check (are we sowing to the flesh or spirit) and pray then make corrections as needed. We must always remember that we will be surrounded by negatives which are an attack on us and what we stand for. When we identify that it is an attack then we take corrective action by rebuking it out of our lives; passing it on to God (surrendering and allowing Him to fight our battles) and believing that it is done.

Romans 12:21 (AMP) encourages us to not let ourselves be overcome by evil, but overcome (master) evil with good. So let us consistently pray that we will remain focused on God’s word and do good despite what it may look like.

We are doing good, be encouraged!
