Without God’s sufficiency we are nothing.
2 Corinthians 3:5 (AMP)
Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.
I always marvel at the fact that when we go through challenges we always rise again. Some will argue that it is a scientific or better yet it is a given. That once we reach rock bottom we will rise. It is not scientific. Our ability to rise stems from faith, God’s mercy and His sufficiency. Faith, God’s mercy and His sufficiency makes the changes. Not science and definitely not us. We have the key to make the necessary changes in our lives when we exercise our faith and believe in God’s mercy and rely on God’s sufficiency and not our own.
If we were self-sufficient we would be able to alter all our circumstances . Making sure we remove all challenges from our lives. Life is not like that. Life is not in our control. We are not self- sufficient at any time and the sooner we realize this, the better off we will be.
John 15:5-8 (MSG)
“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon….
Without God’s sufficiency we will come to naught. In letting go, in surrendering, in exercising our faith without second guessing we will experience and have everything according to God’s will for us. So why is there a need to operate from our own sufficiency when the Bible makes it clear to us in John 15:5-8 that our sufficiency comes from a reliance on God. It tells us exactly how our life is, we are the branches and he is the vine. Without the vine there can be no branches. The passage goes on to state what we need to do to have all that we need, that we need to rely on God’s sufficiency because we are nothing without him.
“Without God’s sufficiency we are nothing.”
