Let us always seek God in everything we do, that is the answer to running our best race. JPJ
Have you ever wondered why even though you feel like you are pushing at optimal you just cannot get to where you think you should be. In a job situation you have dedicated three quarters of your life and yet you have not moved significantly career-wise.
What if we pause for a minute and consider this question. Are we running our own race?
I remember as a teenager entering into adulthood I would admire the tellers in the bank. I would think that banking was my dream job. There was no question in my mind that I wanted to be behind the counters looking as pretty as the girls seemed at the time.
As I reflect on those days I realize that was not what I was cut out to be. I did experience moderate success as a banker as I moved through the years but I never felt excited about the job. I always questioned my career choice or rather the job that I did. Was I running my own race? Could my discomfort, my dissatisfaction be as a result of not running my own race?
We cannot help but experience life the way we see it physically. I would like to say that we can experience an even better life when we look to the things we cannot see. We can experience life in a better way when we look to our God that we cannot see but know that he exists and is very real. We will experience life in a better way by asking him to bring us into the truth of our own race. We will experience life in a better way when we ask for his help in running the race we are destined to run. If we run the race that belongs to another and experience success it will not equal the success that we could experience if we ran our own race.
So next time there is dissatisfaction in a situation we really have to question ourselves. We really have to figure out if we are running our own race. If we are not it’s never too late to start again, many have done it. We have stories all around us of people who came to this realization and have done what it takes to rectify their circumstance. Sometimes if we are lucky we will be forced into running our own race, that is when God decides to take control. When we look to God with a deep desire to live the way he intends us to he will bring us into the truth of what our race should be. It only takes a strong belief, trust and a willing heart that will surrender and allow Him to work in our lives.
Let us run our own race so that at the end of the day we can look back at our life, we can affirm to ourselves that our life was meaningful because we did run our own race.
